Jack-Jack Attack

When Jack is mad, he lets everyone know. He screams like the devil, throws stuff or throws himself on the floor. When he's in his crib and wants out, he throws everything out of the crib.

This morning, I didn't get in there quick enough and he threw some more stuff out of his crib...

That's right, he took off his jammies and his diaper. Lucky for me, there were no accidents, but still. This isn't the first time he's taken off his diaper in bed...time to break out the duct tape!

Prettiest Doctor Ever

Kate wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She loves playing doctor and helping us cure our family ailments. She used to have a toy doctor kit with lots of tools, but Bob the Dog has chewed some of these and others have been lost in the toy black hole of our basement. The stethoscope, though, has always found a way of being in the primary toy box. That's all Kate needs to be a doctor. She came into my bathroom the other day dressed as a doctor. Although she looks a little like Dr. Watson of Sherlock Holmes fame, I was immediately struck by how beautiful and grown up she is.

Halloween Is Not Cute

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!! It's my absolute favorite holiday. I love everything about it, from all the scary stuff on TV to the dressing up. My only problem with the holiday is all the cutesy stuff. Halloween isn't cute, it's scary. When else is it acceptable to put up bloody, gross decorations without people thinking you're crazy? I can put up a pumpkin wreath with Fall colors anytime, but I can't just stick a bloody zombie with glowing eyes in my front yard. But I digress. I'm teaching Kate and Jack the importance of scary Halloween and they are loving it! Jack calls every zombie, ghost, etc. he sees a 'funny guy'.

Cheese Face

Jack started doing this really funny face. It originated from us telling him to say 'cheese' for pictures. Now, all we have to do is say 'cheese face' and he does it. It's kind of the latest version of his famous 'stink eye'. He is awesome.

Haunted Canyon

The kids are loving Halloween. We have decorated the house with scary zombie stuff (no cutesy decorations here) and Kate has been watching tons of Halloween Scooby Doos. Jack even has a sweet Jason Voorhees mask that he wears to the library. This past Friday, we decided to skip corn mazes and pumpkin patches and headed straight to the Heber Valley Railroad's Haunted Canyon. This slow train takes you up the temporarily haunted Provo Canyon while telling urban legends with the possibility of those legends appearing. The kids loved it. Kate was a little nervous on the way up the canyon, but she soon got over her fears and Jack was asleep by the time the train came to a stop.

WTF?!?!

This is what we woke up to on Sunday morning. I would have hung myself in the garage but it was way too cold out there.

A Ride in the Car With Jack

I spend a lot of time on the road these days. We live in Lehi but most of our activities are in Salt Lake City. This requires a good 30 minutes in the car each way. Sometimes Kate and Jack are angels, they play and sing and are silly with each other. Other times they are Satan and his sister...you read correctly, Satan and his sister. It's usually Jack that loses it, whether it's due to lack of food, sleep or ability to move freely. Lately, his complaint of choice is not fussing or crying, it's this high pitched throaty screaming sound...and it goes on for as long as he has breath. I would say that it makes me want to shove very sharp pencils in my ears but that doesn't even come close to how crazy the sound drives me. Here's a video of what it's like in our car lately:

Kate likes to copy him when he does this. Pray for me.

Sweet Mullet

For Halloween a few years ago, Brian and I dressed up as Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife, Beth.

Brian bought himself a sweet mullet wig and I used a squishy pillow in my mom's bra for Beth boobs. (I was six months pregnant with Jack and the Beth boobs made my tummy look flat!) Well, the kids have discovered the mullet wig in our basement and love to play with it. Please enjoy their many looks.

Another Funny Skit

Saturday Night Live is such a crap shoot. Sometimes the stuff is so dumb it's embarrassing and other times they hit the mother load of funny. Their political skits have been pretty funny this season and you know how I feel about the digital shorts. I was pleasantly surprised when I found myself laughing so hard I peed a little when watching the skit below. Seriously, this is so random and weird. All the skits should be like this!

Sweet Tunes

So I'm adding some playlists to the blog because I want to give a shout-out to all the awesome Mormon blogs that have inspirational songs or 'isn't my husband the most romantic' songs. My songs are a little different.

The first playlist is songs and/or artists I think people should hear, but most don't hear because:

1. They aren't mainstream
2. They fall in the genre of pop music, but don't get played on the radio

The second playlist is the BEST EVER...it's some of my favorite obscure 80's songs. I couldn't find all the ones I wanted (i.e. Accidentally 4th Street by Figures on a Beach) - thus living up to their obscurity - but I did find some.

Please enjoy and let me know what you think...or just hit the stop button on the player if you don't want to hear it.

The End Zone

This past Saturday, the family went to the University of Utah Homecoming football game. We lucked out and didn't have to buy tickets because one of Brian's co-workers gave us his season tickets for the game. The seats were in the north end zone and we all had a great time cheering for the Utes. Jack was super cute in his jersey and he would scream and yell every time the ball was thrown or someone was tackled. But even though I had the camera with me, I didn't really feel like I needed to document the kids at the game. However, in the 4th quarter, after the people in front of us left, my attention was drawn to something that I did need to document.

Call it what you want - tacky, classy, a*s antlers with a tramp stamp hat - it was the epitome of having an end zone seat :)
