Regardless of my fear, I again pulled the curtain back (no scary lady) and picked up the razor. I examined the shelf, the razor, etc. and there is NO WAY it could have just fallen off.Tuesday, May 27, 2008
They're Here!
My new house is haunted. This isn't just wishful thinking. I'm serious, the house is haunted. The other day, my razor loudly fell off the shelf in my shower while I was getting ready. I didn't think much of it. I pulled the curtain back, picked it up, put it at the back of the shelf, closed the curtain, then continued getting ready. Not one minute later, I heard the same loud crash as the razor fell again. What?! Seriously, this is a substantial Gillette razor and the shelf is big. I was a little nervous to open the shower curtain and pick up the razor. I was afraid that I would see something creepy a la 'The Shining' bathtub lady.
Regardless of my fear, I again pulled the curtain back (no scary lady) and picked up the razor. I examined the shelf, the razor, etc. and there is NO WAY it could have just fallen off.
Exhibit A:
I KNOW it flew off the shelf, thrown by some resident spook trying to make itself known. Although I am quite obsessed with ghostly encounters, it was unsettling. Remember 'Poltergeist'? All that stuff happened because Cuesta Verde (Cranberry Farms???) was built on an Indian burial ground...hmmmm.

Mass Hysteria!
A scene from one of the best movies ever made, 'Ghostbusters':
Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Bobert Von Watkins
We are pleased to announce the latest addition to the Watkins Family - Bob Watkins was adopted today! Bob is 2 years old and he's 1/2 Shih Tzu & 1/2 Dachshund (thus the long body and the 'Von' in his full name). Bob is such a mellow little guy and he has an incredible disposition.
We were a little worried how Kate would be with Bob, but after an hour together at Petsmart, Kate was whipped. She won't let anyone else hold his leash and he snuggles right up to her. She tells him how adorable he is and how much she loves him. Molly is actually okay with Bob, too. She puffed up and hissed at him when they first met, but when she saw that he could care less about her, she just walked away.
We are so excited to have Bob in our family and can't wait for you all to meet him!

Bad Parenting
I don't even know why I'm blogging about this...oh who am I kidding, it's about my favorite subject so of course I'm writing this. I do think it really shows how much parents lose their minds by the end of the week, though.
We finished dinner tonight and headed upstairs get Jack changed for bed. We decided to let him have some naked time and he loved it. He ran all over the place and just as we were about to finish up naked time, yup, he peed on the floor. Because he was in the bathroom, it was no big deal and we (Brian) cleaned it up. After that, though, Kate started coming out of her room with different books saying "Pretend Jack peed on this book and I had to clean it up with my dress." What?! Okay. That's her new thing "Pretend I..." Usually it involves her in some sort of peril or distress, but this made us laugh. She kept coming out and asking who peed on her books...so of course I had to cross the line. I know that I'm an adult and it's my responsibility to teach my kids good manners and appropriateness...yada yada yada. She came out with 'The Giving Tree' and I told her "I totally pooped inside 'The Giving Tree' and then closed the book." SHE LOVED IT! Not in a funny way but in a total 'Mommy is playing with me' way. She got really mad at me and told me that next time I should use the bathroom, not a book...then she came out with 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish'. Duh...I just said "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Poo Fish." Again, she scolded me for pooping in a book and came back with another. Well, after a few more books and a little more grossness, Brian and I decided we should at least try and be good parents. Here she is being mad that I pooped in her books.

Disneyland...Again!
Of course Kate and I stopped by Disneyland and California Adventure on our latest trip home to California. Grandma was so nice to stay home with sick Jack...although she did go to Disneyland the day before! Kate went on Tower of Terror, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain three times each. We had a great time and also saw some characters we don't usually see. Disneyland is always fun!
